Brian Michael Diaz, artistically known as Brian Michael, was born in Waukegan, Illinois on the 5th of May, to parents of Puerto Rican descent. Brian demonstrated the passion and desire to become a singer at a very young age. During high school, he began to perform locally and nationally throughout Puerto Rico at various events and talent shows. He had the distinct privilege of representing his town of Ciales in a national competition entitled “Festival De La Voz”. Shortly after commencing college, Brian had the honor to appear in the Puerto Rican talent and variety show called “Voces En Funcion” hosted by Lou Briel. Many of Puerto Rico’s national and international performers had previously passed through this prestigious stage. Brian continued to develop his talent throughout the years mastering vocal, piano and guitar lessons. He had the honor of being awarded a scholarship to The University of Puerto Rico for his vocal abilities. He later went on to study Communications (television and radio), and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice (Kaplan University).
Throughout the years, Brian continued to master his vocal abilities. He had several interviews on Puerto Rico’s Radio Borinquen, in which he had the chance to showcase some of his own musical compositions. Brian also auditioned for shows like Objetivo Fama, American Idol, Gigantes Del Manana and Chicago Idol, advancing beyond the second round many times. In 2004 Brian decided to continue his vocal studies and began to sing phonetically in different languages. He was able to master songs from Broadway and Italian Classic Arias. This experience allowed him to perform in several venues, therefore expanding his audience and repertoire.
In 2009 Brian completed his self titled debut album “Brian Michael” with the legendary Grammy Award winning Isidro Infante. Isidro has written, produced and directed for legends such as Celia Cruz, La India, and several Fania All Stars. Though his record is predominantly Salsa, Brian and Isidro decided to make an amazing medley of sounds including Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha, Pop, Rock and even Classical. Brian is currently touring The United States, and in 2011 he will be taking his project to international status. He is currently being played on Hard Salsa Radio, Echale Salsita, Argentina, iHeart Radio, La Mega, Rumba, Dimension Latina, among others.
